Attempted Rape Reported in Athens

The Athens Police Department is investigating an alleged attempted rape that took place early Saturday morning on East Carpenter Street in Athens.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to handle a possible sexual assault complaint on East Carpenter Street at 2:06 a.m. A female described her alleged assailant as standing around 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. The male was described as wearing a dark colored ball cap, dark colored shirt and worn, stone-washed jeans at the time.
