Audio: New Recycling Facility in Athens

Recycling in Athens County will be a lot easier in the coming weeks. The new Athens Hocking Recycling Centers open. The new facility is different from the old one.
“It will be more automated to sort the staff, so the end results the customers will not have to sort the recycling” Bruce Underwood, public relations coordinator for the center says.
The new facility serves the people in Athens and Hocking counties, Amesville, Albany, New Marshfield, Logan, Rock Bridge, The Old Mans Cave area, and Southern Hocking county and some other small villages.
The new service will collect certain recyclable materials from the residents’ doors for a fee. In addition to bottles, newspapers, and cans, people can drop off at the center a wider range of other materials.
Athens Hocking Recycling Centers, AHRC, is a non-profit organization that has partnerships with many institutions such as Ohio University and Rural Action organization.
