Junior wide receiver Jenson Wallace scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and finished the game with 71 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns to help the Logan Chieftains (5-0, 0-0) bear rival Nelsonville-York (1-4, 0-1) 41-28.

Wallace’s first touchdown came off of a play action play when Lane Little rolled left and connected with Wallace in-between the hash marks to put Logan up 7-0.

Nelsonville-York responded immediately, courtesy of a Hunter Edwards touchdown pass, cutting the Logan lead to 7-6.

Keeping with the theme of quick responses, Logan one-upped the Buckeyes. Wallace took the ensuing kickoff back 86 yards to extend Logan’s lead to 14-6. Bryce McBride’s 39-yard touchdown run capped off a dominant quarter which saw Logan amass a 20-6 lead.

Strong offensive play carried into the second quarter when Colton Stilwell got in on the action, punching in a touchdown with 6:34 left to play, putting Logan up 27-6. The halftime score stood at 27-14, thanks to another Edwards touchdown toss.

The score began to look more and more lopsided during the second half with Logan’s lead climbing to 41-14 by the middle of the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes picked up two late touchdowns, with a successful onside kick attempt sandwiched in-between them, but the clock expired before Nelsonville-York’s comeback attempt could come to fruition.

The win marked Logan’s third game in which it scored at least 40 points. Little pioneered the attack, finishing with 223 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

Logan will look to maintain its perfect record next Friday against Shadyside while Nelsonville-York returns to conference play against Meigs.
