Meredith Ashy Wins MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Meredith Ashy took home the title of MAC East Defensive Player of the Week this week after helping the Bobcats improve to a 16-3 overall record and a 6-0 record in MAC play with a pair of 3-0 sweeps on the road against Eastern Conference foes in Akron and Buffalo.

Ashy recorded a total of 38 digs over the two matches. In the sweep against Akron, Ashy led the match with 21 digs and five assists. The following night at Buffalo, Ashy had a match high 17 digs as well as an ace.

Through the 19 matches the Bobcats have had this season, Ashy leads Ohio with 376 digs  and has added 63 assists, which ranks second on the team. She achieved double-digit digs 17 times in 2015. She has notched double-digit digs 101 times in her career. Ashy ranks second in school history with 1,973 career digs and is the program’s all-time leader in digs per set with 4.84.

This upcoming weekend, the ‘Cats look to stay undefeated in MAC play when they welcome Ball State and Toledo on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm.
