Eastern Takes Advantage of Federal Hocking’s Fouls
< < Back to eastern-takes-advantage-of-federal-hockings-foulsIt was an aggressive game, and the Federal Hocking Lancers managed to rack up the highest stat of the night, 26 total team fouls. At the end of every quarter, Federal Hocking had six more fouls than Eastern. The Eastern Eagles took advantage of the fouls and upset the Lancers Friday night in a 57-44 victory.
Most of the fouls were toward the Eagles powerhouses, Jett Facemeyer and Dillon Swatzel, who made 15 out of their 36 free throws.
With three minutes left in the game, Facemeyer saw the line three different times after two technicals and a foul on the shot. Facemeyer made four of the six shots.
Coach Jeremy Hill was all smiles after the game as his team took home their first win of the season. He credits that to the Eagles learning to take care of the basketball and control their turnovers.
“We only had six turnovers in the first half,” Hill said. “Which built us a lead.”
The Lancers were unable to recover from their mistakes and trailed all four quarters.
Eastern hopes to keep the momentum going on the road against Southern on Jan. 12 and Miller on Jan. 15. Meanwhile, the Lancers hope to regain theirs when they host Miller on Jan. 12 and travel to Southern on Jan. 15.
