Vinton County Remains Undefeated With Win Over Wellston

Tristan Bartoe scored 25 points to lead Vinton County (11-0, 4-0) to a 63-47 victory over Wellston (6-4, 0-4) on Friday night. The undefeated Vikings never trailed in the win.
“He worked so hard in the offseason to get stronger,” Vinton County coach Matt Combs said of Bartoe. “He’s able to get to the rim better now. Being balanced helps. Otherwise, we’d see teams clog the paint.”
Chase Wood tallied 17 points and dominated the Rockets’ defense in the paint. Derick Jones added 10 points in the victory.
Chazz Wood led the Wellston offense with 20 points. Braydon Womeldorf finished with 10 points.
“They have some good guards,” “We were trying to keep the ball in front of us.”
Wellston guard Ryan Hawk left the game with a non-contact knee injury in the third quarter and remained in the locker room for the rest of the game.
Vinton County led 21-7 after one quarter and 34-18 at halftime.
The Vikings host Logan on Saturday, Jan. 9.
