CINCINNATI (AP) – Authorities are investigating an activist group’s release of personal information about Cincinnati police officers.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Anonymous Anon Verdict announced in a video Sunday that it had released personal data about police including the chief and officers involved in a fatal shooting last week. The group says it will continue to “data dump” for officers involved in killing citizens.

Police Lt. Steve Saunders says the department is assessing risk to officers and trying to determine whether there was a systems breach. He says the information could have been obtained through public records sources and social media.

The group cited the fatal shooting last week of 37-year-old Paul Gaston. Police said they fired after Gaston reached into his waistband for what turned out to be a pellet gun.
