Ohio’s attorney general says a jury convicted 65-year-old Mitchell Ruble on Friday at his second trial in Marietta. His first trial ended with a hung jury last fall.
Ruble’s attorney couldn’t be reached for comment Saturday. Sentencing is scheduled for April 28.
Prosecutors allege Ruble fatally shot Lt. Ray “Joe” Clark with a shotgun through the kitchen window of his Warren Township home on Feb. 7, 1981.
Clark had terminated Ruble’s employment as a Washington County deputy two years earlier, citing use of excessive force on duty.
