Bobcats Victorious over Morehead State
< < Back to bobcats-victorious-over-morehead-stateTwo weeks after dominating the Eagles 15-3 at Bob Wren, The Bobcats (20-23) completed the series sweep over Morehead State (26-20) Tuesday night with their 5-3 victory.
Ohio came in with plenty of momentum after their series win over Notre Dame while the Eagles were coming off a series victory of their own.
Scoring got started in the third inning. Eagles’ Trevor Snyder ripped a double down the left field line scoring Alex Stephens and Will Schneider.
The ‘Cats retaliated in the fifth when Spencer Ibarra hit a solo shot, cutting into the lead, 2-1.
Ohio came right back in the following inning to tie the game up at two.
Ty Black led off the inning with a walk. Mitch Longo singled to right field. Rudy Rott laid down a sacrifice bunt, sending Black to third and Longo to second. Cody Gaertner hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Black.
Morehead State took the lead right back in the bottom half of the sixth. Hunter Fain reached on an error. Braxton Morris laid down a bunt. Ryan Kent came to the dish and smacked a double into the right center gap, regaining the lead 3-2.
The Bobcats came to bat in the seventh, took back the lead scoring the final three runs of the game. Spencer Ibarra got the inning started with his second homerun of the game. Anthony Mrosla drew a walk. Following a Conner Callery single, Black doubled down the left field line scoring Mrosla and Callery.
Ohio’s starting pitcher, Nick Kamrada was chased out of the game after just two inning of work. Great bullpen pitching from Logan Jacik, Kenny Ogg, Eddie Fitzpatrick, Tom Colletti and Jake Roehn kept the Eagles in check and secured the 5-3 victory for the ‘Cats.
The Bobcats return home for a crucial weekend series against Central Michigan. First pitch of game one of three is set for 6:00 p.m. Friday.
