Thriving Artists and Artisans Market May 13-14

The Southern Hills Arts Council will host a Thriving Artists and Artisans Market on Friday, May 13 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  at the Markay Cultural Arts Center, 269 E. Main St., Jackson.

“This is a new event,” said Southern Hills Arts Council Director of Operations Jennifer Hughes. “We have some very talented artists and artisans in the area,” Hughes added. “We are giving these artists and artisans an opportunity to sell their works to the community and also showcase their talents. We hope the community will embrace the event by stopping by and supporting the vendors.”

Vendors confirmed for the event are: Aureate, which will be selling 3D origami sculptures and paintings; D&F Crafts, selling handmade items, up cycled items, seasonal and educational items for kids, as well as paintings; Debra Shumate with her silver jewelry; One of a Kind, by Rickey Richards, will have one of a kind ceramics, outside lights and furniture; Maria Whetstone will be selling handmade soaps, knitted spring ponchos and leather painted cuffs; Sandra Wilkin will have her Steampunk jewelry and bejeweled creations; Artists Paul Brown, Sherry Aldrich, Julia Rice, and Denise Armstrong will have their artwork for sale.
