A Pink Teacup in a Blue World on Display at Casa Nueva
< < Back to a-pink-teacup-in-a-blue-world-on-display-at-casa-nuevaKicking off tonight, Casa Nueva will play host to an exhibition entitled “A Pink Teacup in a Blue World,” made up of recent art produced by Passion Works Studio. The reception is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the work will be on display throughout the month of May.
“This is all collaborative artwork created by both artists with and without disabilities,” said Chris Beaster, one of Passion Work’s current artists in residence. “The art itself is all based on the drawings by the artists with disabilities, and the other artists helped with the assembly of the art or with adding some details.”
Beaster explained that all of the profit made from the various works is split equally between funding the continuation of the studio and directly paying the artists. He added that approaching the artwork created in the studio in this manner is how the organization operates and how they have operated since their inception.
“This gives artists with disabilities the ability to make money while doing something creative, rather than some type of repetitive type work,” he said.
