Come On, Come Ons Play Free Early Bird Shows
< < Back to come-ons-come-ons-play-free-early-bird-showsThe Come On, Come Ons, one of the areas newest groups, is populated by local music veterans K.C. Waltz (Voodoo Birds), Dave Wooster (Leave Corp.), Roman Warmke (Voodoo Birds, Royales) and Bill Rawlins (Drums). This weekend the outfit will perform two free and early shows.
Formed in 2015, the band plays an eclectic mix of cover songs (The Band, Bob Dylan, Lone Justice, Paul Simon, Etta James) as well as some quirky original material.
“We’re all music veterans, K.C. and I played together in the Voodoo Birds in the ’90s,” said Roman Warmke. “We played from about ’91 to ’97 together, touring up and down the coast, and then we broke up and the band members went their ways. I played with the Royales for the next 20 years, and then last year K.C. moved back to Athens. We were sort of sitting around, talking about the old days, and we decided to form another band.”
Warmke had come to know Dave Wooster and Bill Rawlins through his involvement in the local music scene over the years and he decided to bring them in on the project that he and K.C. were pursuing.
“We really had a good time together, so we booked a show in last May and we’ve been playing since,” Warmke said. “Our shows have a family-friendly vibe. Children are welcome. Old people are dancing. We have a multi-generational thing going on. We have no political agenda, it’s just a fun show and we play a lot of folk rock.”
The first is slated for Saturday, May 21 at Casa Cantina from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The second show is a part of a special “Party for Moms and Awesome Women” at Jackie O’s Taproom starting at 4:30 p.m. The featured physical media artist is Kasey Jones. The line up for the evening will kick off with Tracy & JJ at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Touchy Feelys at 5:15 p.m.; the Come On, Come Ons at 6:15 p.m. and the Summoners at 7:15 p.m.
