West Virginia Pair Charged With Child Neglect

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) – Two people have been charged after police say a child was found in deplorable conditions in Barboursville.
Local news outlets report court records show 26-year-old Katherine Anne Gooding of Barboursville and 23-year-old Travis Striker of Sissonville were both charged with child neglect creating risk of injury.
Police on Sunday responded to an apartment, where officers say they found an 18-month-old child with marks on her body and a soiled diaper.
Authorities say the apartment had drug paraphernalia, uncapped needles and loose pills throughout the home along with trash and clutter.
Police said an eviction notice had been served on May 26.
The toddler was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
It’s unclear whether Gooding and Striker have attorneys.
