COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A national charter school advocacy group says Ohio residents should be outraged by the low performance of several online charter schools in the state.

The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools says Ohio, Pennsylvania and California together enroll more than half of the country’s e-students.

Ohio’s largest internet charter has grown to become one of the largest districts in the state despite ranking among the worst-performing.

Authors of the report too many full-time virtual charter public schools are failing.

A spokesman for the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow called the report an attack on all virtual schools and said its research is unreliable and flawed.

Nearly 23,000 students attended the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow last year, many just for weeks or a few months.
