Clergy Members Urge Candidates Take ‘Moral Agenda’
< < Back to clergy-members-urge-candidates-take-moral-agendaCLEVELAND (AP) – Several clergy members are urging candidates with both political parties to embrace what they’re calling a moral agenda.
The clergy plan to unveil their “Higher Ground Moral Declaration” Monday in Cleveland, a week before the Republican National Convention gets underway.
Organizers of a news conference and march to GOP convention headquarters say the same declaration will be presented at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia in two weeks and to all 2016 candidates for U.S. Senate and governor.
The agenda includes guarantees of economic fairness and access to healthcare for all, quality education for all children and criminal justice reform.
Clergy from the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association and a Roman Catholic nun are among those participating.
