Kamron Curry Leads Trimble Past Belpre
< < Back to kamron-curry-leads-trimble-past-belpreThe Tomcats once again dominated the Golden Eagles, 49-6. While Belpre broke its five-year scoring drought against Trimble, the Golden Eagles still couldn’t break the long lasting losing streak.
The Glouster team simply played a far superior game. The Tomcats had 430 total yards, more than quadrupling Belpre’s 88. In the first half, Belpre had more yards lost due to penalties than yards gained.
The Golden Eagles’ special teams especially saw some struggles. They bobbled the ball on almost every return, and their first few punts didn’t make it more than 30 yards.
The Tomcats have diverse players who they utilized both on offense and defense. However, this strategy hurt them when starting quarterback Ryan Richards was injured while playing safety in the second quarter. He was carried off the field and did not return the rest of the game.
Kamron Curry is a talented player in multiple positions. He didn’t leave the field until there were only seven minutes left in the game. One moment, Curry was punching the ball in for a touchdown as running back, the next he was making an interception from strong safety running it in 23 yards putting up another six points. When Richards was taken out of the game, number three stepped up and took his place, while continuing on defense as well.
Sophomore Gary Brooks also made an impression as quarterback in the final quarter. He went 6/10 passing ending the night with 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Another player of all trades was Jacob Hardy who made a significant contribution on defense and also made six catches for 140 yards and one touchdown. One such catch was an impressive one-handed catch for 27 yards and landing Trimble in perfect scoring position on the two-yard line.
Another player everyone’s eyes were on were Deijon Bedgood. Throughout the first half he couldn’t find a position where he could get the ball. In the third quarter, when switched to QB, Bedgood managed a 67-yard touchdown pass to Tojzae Reams.
Next week the Tomcats travel to take on South Gallia while Belpre will battle it out against Federal Hocking at home.
