Elle King Headed To Athens Nov. 15
< < Back to elle-king-headed-to-athens-nov-15The Ohio University Concert Series & Jackie O’s are pleased welcome Elle King with special guest Paul Cauthen on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Ohio University’s Memorial Auditorium.
Raised in rural Ohio, King pinpoints the day her life changed to her ninth birthday, when her stepdad refused to get her the album by the pop-reggae star that she wanted and instead gave her the first album by hard-rocker girls the Donnas. “I put that on and that was it,” she says. “I wanted to play rock and roll and be a girl and do it. I started listening to the Runaways and Blondie — all the rad chicks.”
Bluesy bombshell Elle King has made a name for herself with her soulful, country-tinged take on classic rock and roll. King’s powerful voice and playful songs have made fans of everyone from Oprah to Jimmy Fallon, and it’s easy to see why as she commands the stage at her rollicking live shows.
Stylishly dressed like a modern-day pin-up girl, King strums her guitar and belts out her clever lyrics with equal parts heartfelt sincerity and punk attitude. Whether she’s tearing through barnburners like “Ex’s & Oh’s” or performing her encore-worthy cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl”, King is a powerhouse live performer who always knocks ticket buyers’ socks off on tour.
This event is part of the Ohio University Concert Series. Tickets start at $25 and may be purchased by calling (740) 593-1780 or visiting www.ohio.edu/concerts
