From start to finish, the Alexander Lady Spartans were on fire from the field and had no problem handling the Lady Bulldogs in a 77-20 victory.

Alexander came out in a full court press that the Lady Bulldogs had a challenging time breaking. The Lady Spartans had wide-open baskets after their defense caused 11 first half Bulldog turnovers, which helped them build a 23-5 lead at the end of the first quarter that they would only increase as the game progressed.

Alexander increased their lead to 43-9 at halftime after outscoring Athens, 20-4 in the second quarter.

Kena Rice was the leading scorer for Alexander with 20 points. Leah Richardson followed with 16 and Rachel Richardson had 13 points.

Both the offense and defense had trouble all night for Athens. They had 15 turnovers in the game and allowed their second most points allowed this season while scoring their second lowest total. Their first was also to Alexander earlier in the season.

Olive Harter was the leading scorer for Athens with eight points.

Alexander’s win streak increases to nine after dominating the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Spartans next chance to increase their streak to double digits comes on Monday when they welcome Vinton County.

The loss snaps the Lady Bulldogs two-game winning streak and have the weekend to recover and rework their game plan for Monday night as they travel to River Valley to take on the Lady Raiders.
