Vinton County Ends Season to Fairfield Union

Cassie Bentley went coast-to-coast for an easy basket with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter. It was the first basket for the Lady Vikings in the second half.
The entire game was one missed shot after another, but Fairfield Union was more put together handling the ball and stopping the Lady Vikings with defense.
Mailyn Sunkle was a workhorse for the Lady Falcons. Sunkle was constantly jumping on the ground and was in the paint forcing in buckets. Sunkle led the game with 19 points, 11 points coming from free throws.
Vinton County was able to get within four points near the end of the game, but the Lady Vikings struggled to get open shots. When Vinton County was forced to start fouling, Fairfield Union started building more of a lead and the game was set.
Cassie Bentley and Sammy Thompson were strong for Vinton County. Bentley had a double-double effort with 17 points and 14 rebounds while Thompson had 14 points.
Vinton County ends its season at 10-13.
Fairfield Union (13-10) advances in the tournament to see Warren.
