Athens Man Charged with Arson

Authorities say they’ve arrested an Athens man in connection with six fires that were intentionally set early Thursday morning in Athens.
In a news release, the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau says Jason Armstrong, 25, was arrested and charged with arson. Armstrong is accused of setting six fires on Kurtz Street in Athens around 2 a.m. on May 4th. According to the release, one fire was set to debris on the rear corner of a home at 18 Kurtz St., while the remaining fires were set in different areas within the Palmer Place apartment complex.
Armstrong is at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
