The Ohio University Press has recently published a new coffee-table photo book about Ohio. It’s called “Ohio in Photographs: A Portrait of the Buckeye State.”
It’s a compilation of photographs taken by noted landscape, architectural, and travel photographers Ian Adams and Randall Lee Schieber.
There will be a free conversation with the two photographers on Thursday, June 15 at 3 p.m. on the 4th Floor of Alden Library. WOUB’s Evan Shaw will moderate the talk. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
“Ohio in Photographs…” is divided into five regions: Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast and Central. The book contains photographs from all 88 counties. It contains both rural and urban scenes and displays cultural events, sports, and workplaces in addition to the stunning landscapes.
It features the work of two outstanding photographers – specifically selected by the Ohio University Press.
Adams has captured images for 22 photography books and more than 65 Ohio calendars. He teaches nature and garden photography seminars and workshops and teaches digital photography at Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio. He lives in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Schieber is based in Columbus. He has published six photography books and numerous calendars and has had his work displayed in numerous national publications.
The idea for the book originated when Gov. John Kasich found it difficult to find any photobook of Ohio still in print. He generated the idea for the book and it was picked up and implemented by the Ohio University Press. Gov. Kasich wrote the forward to the book. Author John Fleischman wrote the introduction.
The book is available through local bookstores as well as through national distribution retailers.
