Dairy Barn Arts Center Hosts Grand Re-Opening
< < Back toThursday, August 24 the Dairy Barn Arts Center celebrated the completion of their Building For a Second Century expansion project with a grand re-opening. The event featured tours of the additions to the facility, as well as guided activities that took place in the newly renovated spaces in the barn. Live music played throughout the event on the organization’s recently unveiled outdoor patio, and hors d-oeuvre, catered by Purple Chopstix was munched upon.
The project, which added a welcome lobby, community room, new gallery shop, catering kitchen, outdoor patio, and three new studio spaces, was started on October 5, 2016 and was completed by Athens-based Hoon, Inc. and RVC Architects. Those additions allowed for further renovations to the existing barn, like hardwood flooring installation in the AEP Wing, new carpeting throughout the Sauber Gallery, several upstairs offices and hallways, a first floor sound system, new panels in the Sauber Gallery, and renovation to the ends of the barn. Work has also begun on the Ora Anderson Nature Trail, which will be a hiking trail that will utilize the 32 acres behind the barn.
