OU’s Priyanka Das Utilizes Film to Explore Identity and More

Priyanka Das has been an artist her entire life, and utilizing film to further her artistic ventures just made sense to the artist from a young age. Earlier this year, Das graduated from Ohio University’s School of Film, and she’s currently living in New York City working with a variety of art-centric groups.
In 2016, Das released The Return, a rawly emotional 15-minute work that documents one woman’s journey home shortly after her mother’s passing. This may be her most well-known work, although she has a pretty wide filmography under her belt, even at the age of 29. Soon she will be releasing Under the Jazz. Circulation. Formation., and you can find the trailer for that piece embedded above.
WOUB’s Emily Votaw spoke with Das about the way she found herself making film, her ultimate goals as an artist, and what’s up next for her.
