Second Man Facing Charges in Connection with Athens Shooting

A second man is facing charges in connection with the shooting death on the city’s West side over the weekend.
23-year old Bernard Mitchell faces felony involuntary manslaughter and robbery charges in connection with the shooting death of 55-year-old Charles Duncan.
According to the court documents, Michael Allen Russell along with Mitchell and a third man went to an apartment at 221 West Washington Street and attempted to rob Duncan of $50.
Court documents say Mitchell admitted to kicking the door of the second-floor apartment twice to try and get inside.
