How to Vote in Ohio’s 2020 Primary
< < Back to ohios-2020-primaryATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Ohioans will have until Tuesday, April 28, 2020, to vote in the primary election that was disrupted because of precautions enacted to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
According to state officials, this extended voting period is only for those who were registered as of February 18, 2020, and did not participate in early voting. Like all absentee ballots, this one has to be requested; it will not automatically be sent to people who have not voted.
Voters can print and complete an absentee ballot request form by going to their county board of elections’ website or by calling them.
Voters can also get the necessary paperwork by going to voteohio.gov.
Questions about the process can be answered at the nonpartisan voter hotline 1-866-OUR-VOTE (687-8683).
Homeless voters and voters with disabilities who need special accommodations will be allowed to vote in person on April 28, 2020.
According to ohiosos.gov, “Tabulation of votes will begin on April 28, 2020 after 7:30 p.m. It’s important to note that ballots postmarked by April 27, 2020 will all be counted, so final unofficial results won’t be available until May 8, 2020. (This is standard for every election.)”
