Factory Street Dance Studio Keeps Dancing (Virtually) Amid COVID-19 Crisis
< < Back to factory-street-dance-studio-keeps-dancing-virtually-amid-covid-19-crisisSpring is typically a very busy time of year for Factory Street Dance Studio (37 Ohio Avenue, Athens) and their students. Usually the past year of hard work culminates in a Spring Concert for the studio, which champions non-competitive dance. However, the COVID-19 crisis derailed the studio’s plans and has drastically impacted the business’ bottom line.
Even in the midst of hardship, the studio will release a Community Dance Video on Saturday, May 16 at 12 p.m. EDT which will incorporate remote videos of dancers from all levels to display all of the hard work that their students and instructors have been up to since Governor Mike DeWine’s mid-March 2020 stay-at-home order. You can watch that video on the studio’s Facebook event, as well as their YouTube page.
WOUB spoke to Angelica Bell, Factory Street’s artistic director, about the forthcoming Community Dance video, the inspiration she draws from her the instructors and students at the studio in these difficult times, and what the studio is doing to persevere through unprecedented hardship.
