Two Local Movie Theatres Prepare To Reopen June 19

Under guidelines from the state of Ohio, theatre employees must wear face coverings and perform a daily symptom assessment. Theatres must also ensure a minimum of 6 feet of distance between customers and guests when possible, and place hand sanitizer in high-contact locations.
Movies 10 in Nelsonville is reopening Friday, June 19 and offering free showings until June 25. Films they are showing include “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Back to the Future,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Despicable Me.”
The Athena Grand is also opening Friday and offering $3 tickets for a limited time. Movies include “Grease,” “Space Jam,” “The Goonies,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”
The Athena Cinema is offering films through a Virtual Screening Initiative that are unavailable through any other video on demand platform, including “Pioneers of Queer Cinema,” “Tommaso,” and “Picture a Scientist.”
Tri-City Theatre in Jackson reopened on June 12 and will also be showing classic movies this weekend: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.”
