ATHENS, OH – Social media followers of WOUB Public Media’s news and culture content have a new page to follow. WOUB recently launched the WOUB News and Culture Facebook page.
“We wanted to provide a place for people who want to stay up to date on the latest news and cultural content in our region,” said WOUB Digital News Editor Aaron Payne. “WOUB has amazing educational and information programming, podcasts and community activities that are shared on its main Facebook page. And we wanted to give people who are looking for news and culture content a place to find just that.”
Followers of the new WOUB News and Culture Facebook page will find the top local, regional and daily stories as well as reporting on COVID-19’s impact on the region. Daily state virus data, and live streams of Governor Mike DeWine’s COVID-19 press conferences have moved to the new page.
“We know during this time people are turning more to WOUB for reliable news and information,” said Payne “And we feel this page is a great way to make sure they can find it easily.”
WOUB Culture will also share its content on the new page which showcases the culture of the diverse region WOUB serves. This includes working with regional arts non-profits, such as Stuart’s Opera House, Arts West, Passion Works and the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio, as well as organizations that serve the region in a multitude of other ways, such as the Athens County Public Libraries, the Southeast Ohio History Museum, and the Athens City Commission on Disabilities.
“During the pandemic, we have lost the ability to attend music and arts events, so providing access to local artists and virtual performances is more crucial than ever,” said WOUB Culture Reporter Emily Votaw. “I’m so glad that WOUB can connect people to this kind of content to help them take a break from it all during this difficult time.”
