Four COVID-related deaths have been reported in Athens County, along with 12 new cases for Oct. 26
< < Back to four-covid-related-deaths-have-been-reported-in-athens-county-along-with-12-new-cases-for-oct-26ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 83 total deaths related to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after four were added to the total Tuesday. The county also has now had 7,807 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 12 new cases were reported for the same day.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed the deaths and cases on Oct. 26, 2021.
Analysis of ODH data indicates the deaths involved three people in their 70s and a person in their 20s, the youngest COVID-related death in the county to date.
According to ODH data, the cases involved six people 20-29, three people 0-19, one person 30-39, one person 50-59 and one person 60-69.
Three additional cases required hospitalization involving two people 60-69 and a person 70-79. According to the data, 275 people in Athens County have been hospitalized due to complications related to this coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
There are 342 known active cases in the county as of Tuesday and 7,382 recovered cases, according to ODH.
A total of 48.29% of the county has started the vaccination process and 45.36% has completed it, according to ODH. There have also been 2,310 additional doses administered.
Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.
Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Ohio Department of Health announced 1,527,976 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide after 3,807 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. There have been 79,136 hospitalizations and 24,164 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
