Federal Hocking continues their win streak by blowing away Southern Tornadoes

 STEWART, Ohio (WOUB) — The Federal Hocking Lancers have returned to Stewart, Ohio after almost 2 weeks due to COVID-19 issues canceling their last game against Trimble. They look to continue their five-game winning streak against the Southern Tornados. The Tornados started out the game with a 6-0 run, but the Lancers made it clear that they were dominant throughout the whole four quarters not by giving up the lead for the rest the game.

In total, four players on the Lancers scored in the double digits. Those scorers include Lane Smith with 19 points, Tyler Rodgers with 14, Andrew Airhart with 12, and Caden Chapman with 11 leading to a 68-48 win. Tariq Cotrill also recorded a total of six steals making an impact on the defensive side of the ball. With this victory, the Lancers improve their win streak to six.

Coach Jonathan Thompson was content on how his team played tonight on their return to play. “Efficiency is what we want to complete night in and night out,” Coach Thompson says. “We had let downs here and there as expected coming off of any kind, but at the end of the night we were able to get the job done.” A player that stood out against the Tornados was senior Lane Smith. For Lane, coming back to the court after was difficult for some players, but was retaining that Federal Hocking was doing what they do best.

“We are going to keep doing on what we’re doing” he says. “We’re going to keeping playing ball, execute our plays our coaches put in for us, play defense, and just be the Federal Hocking we have seen for past couple of years.” Lane Smith proved against Southern that he is impact player for this Lancer squad. The Federal Hocking Lancers are still not done performing at the next level this week though as they will attempt to increase their win streak to seven as they take on Crooksville back home in Stewart, Ohio at 7:30 p.m
