Alexander Spartans put on shooting clinic over Nelsonville-York

It was all Spartans tonight, as Kyler D’Augustino put the team on his back and kept Alexander’s championship hopes alive.
The Spartans came out hot to start the game and took an early lead that continued throughout the first half of the game. The Buckeyes struggled to get things going in the first two quarters, as Alexander took a 41-20 advantage heading into the break.
Nelsonville-York got off to a great start in the third quarter, going on a 9-4 run of their own. This forced Alexander to burn a timeout, which allowed the Spartans to regroup. After this timeout, Alexander took control of the game and rode that wave for the remainder of the second half.
Kyler D’Augustino was the man of the night for the Spartans, as he scored 32 points, picked up 10 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists. Keagan Swope led the way for Nelsonville-York, dropping 18 points for the Buckeyes.
The Alexander Spartans are now 9-8 on the season and 6-2 in the TVC-Ohio. They will face the River Valley Raiders and the tough Meigs Marauders next week in a must win matchup.
The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes fall to 5-10 with a 1-6 record in conference play. The Buckeyes will look to rebound later in the week, as they will travel to Pomeroy to take on a Meigs team looking to avenge their loss to the Vinton County Vikings.
