New Virtual Learning Series
WOUB learning Lab would like to flip the script on professional development. Throughout the end of this school year, we are offering a flipped series of trainings. Participants will get the materials to review and learn independently. Then there will be a short meet up for participants to ask questions and share what they learned or created. To kick this series off, Shannan Williams will walk you through using Book Nook from INFOhio. Materials will be available April 10th. We will meet virtually April 19th at 7pm through Facebook live. Attendees wil receive contact hours and a set of books at your grade level to use with your classes.

NOVA: Misinformation Nation
Scientific information is shared through the news, advertisements, and social media platforms by sources with differing intentions and levels of expertise. Unfortunately, science misinformation, information that contradicts what established science tells us to be true, can mislead and confuse people and potentially endanger their health and wellbeing. Learn the science behind why misinformation is shared, why it’s believed, and what we can do to address its spread across digital media. Use this collection from PBS Learning Media to help prepare students to be critical consumers of science content and to make informed judgements about the science media they encounter.

NOVA Financial Lab
For its latest Lab, NOVA teamed up with the Center for Advanced Hindsight (CAH) at Duke University to create a game designed to help players understand how we make financial decisions and how to develop habits to overcome the behavioral biases that often get in our way. Such biases include “opportunity cost neglect,” where we focus only on the spending decision right in front of us, and “mental accounting bias,” which can cause us to treat money differently depending on where it came from. The NOVA Financial Lab provides a fun, safe place for players to practice managing spending, paying off debts, and investing for the future.
