Sat. July 16, Excursions w/ Art Cromwell will present two segments from his “Jazz Meccas” project.
“The Tale of Two Cities” focuses on Jazz and Jazz artistry from the cities of Memphis and Baltimore.
From Memphis we will explore historic recordings that captures two generations of Jazz artists born in Memphis. The Baltimore segment pays homage to one of the nation’s longest running community-sponsored Jazz concert series, “The Left Bank Jazz Society,” which presented A-list Jazz artists from the Left Bank’s inception in 1964, through the turn of the century. Excursions will feature excerpts from recordings made from these historic concert presentations.
