Hour of Code

Every year in December, millions of students around the world celebrate Computer Science Education Week (December 5 – 11) with the Hour of Code. WOUB’s Learning Lab and the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery are holding an Hour of Code to give children of all ages a chance to code in fun and exciting ways. The event will be held on December 11th at the Athens Meigs Educational Services Center located at 21 Birge Drive. Registration is appreciated.

Small Business Simulator Game

GPB Education has launched a new online game available on PBS LearningMedia! START IT UP is a small business simulator for high school economics students and young adults, designed to provide them with an opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards associated with starting a new business. In the game, students create their own fictional small business and use their entrepreneurial skills to help the business succeed!

Ohio Ready to Learn

Workshop Series Begins Soon!

The WOUB Learning Lab is preparing to release the 2023 ORTL Workshop schedule. This free interactive workshop series is designed for family child care professionals and other early childhood education professionals. Each workshop in the series is approved for Step Up to Quality credit and is funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to the Ohio Educational Television Stations (PBS Stations). This year’s topics are Child Development, Playful Learning with Arts and Writing, Language and Literacy, and Spark Scientific inquiry with Nature. Virtual Field Trips

Virtual Field Trips from the Ohio Learns 360 Project are a great after school activity for your afterschool program or anyone. Join us Dec 7th to explore Christmas Traditions Around the World. You can also watch the virtual field trip to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Media Literacy Academy

Begins in Jan 2023

Once again Ohio PBS stations are working collaboratively to bring the PBS Media Literacy Academy to Ohio’s educators. This cohort program will offer support to Ohio teachers wishing to complete the PBS Media Literacy certification. Participants can earn each of the eight microcredentials, receive professional development time and optional graduate credit.
