In tonight’s TVC-Hocking matchup, the Eastern Lady Eagles were able to defeat the Southern Tornadoes 76-31. In a rivalry that’s been dubbed “The Battle of the Boot” Eastern has dominated both games.

From the very beginning this game had the Eagles written all over it. The Lady Eagles came out soaring in the first quarter and took a swift 19-8 lead early on.

Entering the second quarter the Eagles offense moved as one and continued to put points on the board. It was Jaylynn Hupp that had the hot hand Tornadoes before halftime. While Hupp was torching the Eagles beyond the arc and from midrange, the Eagles entered the half with a 38-22 lead.

The Lady Eagles came out of the half with lots of effort on both sides of the ball. The Eagles defense swarmed the Tornadoes, and it transitioned into good offense. Behind a big quarter from Sydney Reynolds the Lady Eagles expanded their lead 57-28.

The fourth quarter remained in the talons of the Eagles. They were able to pull their lead even farther and finished with a final of 71-36. The Eagles defense combined to force 11 steals, six of which came at the hands of senior guard, Juli Durst.

The Eagles had huge scoring efforts from Sydney Reynolds, Erica Durst, and Juli Durst; each of them scoring in double digits. Improving their impressive win streak to five games, the Lady Eagles travel to face Symmes Valley this weekend in hopes of continuing their hot streak.
