Over the last few months, Nelsonville has lost a city manager, a police chief, an interim police chief/manager, two city council members and a clerk of mayor’s court.

These vacancies have caused turmoil within Nelsonville city government and the many changes have been closely followed by the new non-profit news agency for Athens County, the “Athens County Independent.”

Co-Founder and reporter Dani Kington and Nelsonville reporter Keri Johnson have been documenting the moves, writing about financial restitution being made by the former city manager, and tracking a criminal case against a former employee of the Nelsonville mayor’s court.

Recently, they met with WOUB’s Tom Hodson and gave an update on all the Nelsonville developments for “Conversations from Studio B.”

Listen to their analysis and learn how you can find their articles to read for yourself.

Nelsonville and York Township coverage by the “Athens County Independent” is sponsored by the Nelsonville Community Foundation Fund and the I’m a Child of Appalachia Fund® at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio.
