STEWART, Ohio (WOUB) – Federal Hocking hosted conference opponent Southern on Thursday night, dominating from start to finish in route to a 58-22 victory.

It was senior night where the Lancers honored Isabella Mcvey, Tiffany Allen and Abby Householder. All three players have been key contributors over their four years with the team.

“The three seniors, they’ve been in our program all four years,” assistant coach Trystan Peyton said. “They’re great teammates, they go hard in practice every single day, they set the expectation for the foreseeable future with our young kids.”

For Allen, being a part of the team has helped her develop into the player she is.

“It means a lot,” Allen said. “I mean I’ve been playing for like 12 years or so and this night meant a lot to me and I’ve been thinking about it.”

The crowd showed up for the Lancers and was cheering all night. That energy carried right onto the court as they came out fast and ready to play.

The team chemistry from the Lancers was flowing all night long. It felt like once they got rolling they couldn’t be stopped. The Lancers scored seven 3-pointers in the first half alone as they went into halftime with a big 39-12 lead.

“Just getting a few shots and hit early because we’ve struggled the past few games,” Peyton said. “Just to see a few go in just ignited us to just hit a run for the next few quarters.”

Those shots propelled Federal Hocking to continue its momentum throughout. Whether it be from beyond the arc or in the paint, its energy couldn’t be matched.

Key rebounding allowed the Lancers to continue putting points on the board and Southern ultimately had no answer.

The Lancers look to remain in the win column on Feb. 8 against Huntington.
