Actors Guild of Parkersburg to Host Lip Sync Competition

“We are excited about this fundraiser because lip syncing is something that we all have done at one time or another when we listen to our favorite songs,” explained fund raising committee member Betty Dotson. “And, this event is going to be a FUNdraiser…everyone will have such a good time whether they are participants or audience members.”
All celebrities who are participating in the contest have selected non-profit organizations to support if they emerge victorious. The current list of participants and their non-profits includes: Amanda Stevens (Downtown PKB), Roger Shepherd (Bike & Hike Parkersburg), Dave Fleming (Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg), Alvin Phillips & Sharon Kesselring (Habitat for Humanity of the MOV/American Red Cross),
Mike and Christina Lorentz (Alzheimer’s Association), Lisa McCray and Travis Graham (Family Crisis Intervention), Dan Miller (Operation Underground Railroad), Lisa Collins (Belpre Performing Arts Boosters), Rick Hastings (Belpre Area Ministries), Dr. Anna Hughes (Wood County Society), Kathe Deitzler (The Humane Society), and Senta Goudy (West Virginia Symphony – Parkersburg).
Pre-show voting is open now through March 31 at the Actors Guild website (https://www.actors-guild.com/lip-sync-battle.html). Votes cost $1 each (via debit/credit card) and there is no limit to how many votes an individual can cast.
Live voting via cash donation only will occur at the April 1 event. Donations will make up half of the winning effort with the other half determined by a judging panel that includes Phyllis Smith, Kiki Angelos and Joe Oliverio.
First, second, and third place winners will receive $500, $300, and $200, respectively, for their chosen nonprofits. In addition, donations can be made at the event for the People’s Choice Award. The winner will receive dinner for two and an overnight stay at the Blennerhassett Hotel.
The April 1 event will kick off at 6 p.m. with a pre-show performance by the band Track 9. The Lip Sync Battle will begin at 7 p.m. Concessions will be sold; beer and wine by donation.
Lip Sync tickets are available now via the Guild website for $15 or can be purchased for $20 at the door.
