Zane Trace Pioneers reign in Westfall Mustangs
< < Back toChillicothe, Ohio(WOUB) – The Westfall Mustangs took to the frontier to face off against the Zane Trace Pioneers Friday night.
Westfall started out with the ball and started pushing towards Pioneer territory.
The Mustangs started off strong with a backwards pass for a 72-yard touchdown to kick the game off. The Pioneers fought back going for a touchdown themselves, tying the score up 7-7 halfway through the first quarter.
Zane Trace snagged a pick for themselves but was unable to take it home for six. Westfall got the ball back and were held away from the endzone to punt. Zane Trace wanted the punt to stay near the ground, reaching up and managing to block the punt, giving them the ball again.
The Pioneers swung back and rushed into the endzone for 6, nailing the extra point ending the first quarter 14-7 Zane Trace.
Westfall got the ball to start off the second and launched the ball down, leading to an incomplete pass which would have put them down at the 1 yard line on the 4th down.
Zane Trace got the ball back at turnover on downs and went for a rushing touchdown. The score was set 21-7 Pioneers, giving the Mustangs the ball again.
The Mustangs ran down the field, pushing into Pioneer territory yet again before a nasty hit from the Pioneers forced a fumble recovery for the Pioneers.
They followed the fumble recovery up again with an 84 yard rush taking it home. Ending the half with the Pioneers up 28-7.
Zane Trace started off the third with a rough snap causing a sack as Westfall holds Zane Trace away from the redzone. Until Zane Trace went for their second pick, before scoring again with 4:29 left in the third quarter.
Zane Trace forced another fumble on Westfall, using the momentum to push for yet another touchdown, ending the third with a score of 42-7.
Westfall starts the ball of with a punt return to put them on the 10 yard line. The Pioneers defense reined in the Mustangs’ offense, picking up a third fumble recovery for the Pioneers.
The Mustangs were able to sneak in another touchdown right at the end of the game, finishing the night with a final score of 42-14 Zane Trace Pioneers.
