WOUB’s Learning Lab and the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery are partnering again to hold an Hour of Code event in Chauncey to help children of all ages learn about computer coding. The event called Code Fest: A Festival of Coding will be held on December 2 at the Athens Meigs Educational Services Center located at 21 Birge Drive. This free event aims to bring engaging coding opportunities to the local community, catering to coders of all ages and skill levels.

The Hour of Code is a global initiative designed to introduce people of all backgrounds and ages to the world of computer programming. It’s a perfect occasion for beginners to get their feet wet in coding and for more experienced coders to refine their skills. This year’s event will offer a diverse array of coding activities that participants can enjoy. Attendees can explore various coding stations, each featuring different activities, including robotics.

“One exciting addition to this year’s event is the inclusion of workshops specifically tailored for coders who want to delve deeper into specific coding topics such as microbits,” said WOUB’s Educational Services Manager Deborah Brewer. “This is our 5th year and it’s been great to watch the involvement grow and see how excited families are to engage with STEM and coding activities.”

The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. WOUB will be giving away prizes and books to those who attend.
