Stewart, OH (WOUB) – The Lancers out of Federal Hocking looked to continue their winning ways and snatch their first TVC-Hocking win of the season against the Waterford Wildcats.
It was a gorgeous night for high school basketball. The fans in Stewart were ready to watch their beloved Federal Hocking at home once again.
Early on in the first quarter, the Lancers jumped out to a big early lead, courtesy of buckets from the likes of Tariq Cottrill, Cameron Joy, and Mosiah Cottrill. This advantage would not last long however, with Waterford clawing their way back to make the score 20-16 heading into the second quarter of play.
This same momentum would carry itself over. As soon as Federal Hocking looked to start pulling away, the Wildcats would answer right back, keeping the Lancers lead close going into the halftime break, only being down 26-35.
Cameron Joy and Andrew Airhart would step up for Federal Hocking when needed in the third quarter. Airhart would knock down some clutch three pointers, while Joy would continue to dominate from the post and mid-range areas. Senior Evan McPherson would also continue his scoring as well.
Waterford would cut down the Lancers lead to only three points going into the fourth quarter, but this is where the wheels began to fall off of the Wildcats bus. Despite not having a single field goal in the second half, Tariq Cottrill would knock down clutch free throws in the end to seal the Federal Hocking victory, he finished with 18 points. Andrew Airhart would foul out of the contest midway through the fourth, he finished with 17, while Cameron Joy would finish with 13 respectively. The Lancers would take this contest by a score of 68-58.
Federal Hocking travels to Belpre to take on the Golden Eagles in another TVC-Hocking game on Friday, Dec. 15. As for Waterford, they hit the road to face off against the Marietta Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
