TVC-Ohio Boys Standings

1. Vinton County Vikings | 10-2 (Conf. 6-0)

After a slow start heading into the new year, Vinton County seems to be back on track after blowing out New Hope and Wellston by an average of 31 points per game this week. This comes after back-to-back losses to Chillicothe and South Webster, along with a double overtime win against McClain.

The Vikings still sit atop the TVC-Ohio undefeated in conference play, but they’ll face some challengers this week. It was another tough week for River Valley as they were unable to break a losing streak that is now five games long. They first played against one of the TVC-Ohio leading teams in Meigs. The Marauders dominated from start to finish, winning 78-44.

Trimble came to Bidwell on Saturday night. The Raiders kept the game closer, only trailing by one point at halftime. However, the Tomcats outplayed the Raiders in the second half and defeated River Vallet 63-50.

The Raiders will play just one game this week, on the road in Huntington.  Andrew Bowlby

Wellston Golden Rockets logoT-5. Wellston Golden Rockets | 2-9 (Conf. 2-4)

The last two weeks have been trending in the wrong direction for Wellston. Losing four consecutive games and falling to the bottom of the standings. This week their only game came against the dominant Vinton County.

The Golden Rockets couldn’t keep pace and lost 71-33. This week they will take on Eastern and Athens. Two must wins if they want a chance to climb back up in the TVC-Ohio standings. — Andrew Bowlby

T-5. Vinton County Vikings | 5-8 (Conf. 2-4)

This past week was a much-needed one for the Lady Vikings, as they finally had an undefeated week, defeating Northwest and Meigs. While those two teams aren’t the best, this was huge for Vinton County to regain its confidence and not completely let this season derail. What will maybe help this team’s confidence even more is they’ve already surpassed last season’s win total with a month left in this season.

To add a sixth or even seventh win to the season, Vinton County will have to be road warriors this week. VC will travel to Rock Hill on Monday night, followed by a TVC-Ohio bout in Nelsonville-York. While the Lady Buckeyes are near the top of the conference, don’t rule out Vinton County in this one, as they only lost 46-36 in the teams’ first meeting. — Grant Kiefer

7. Meigs Marauders | 4-9 (Conf. 0-5)

The ladies played an action packed week, playing three away games. On Monday, they traveled to Reedsville to take on Eastern in a heated TVC-Hocking matchup. Meigs came out on top, battling to the end 55-48. On Thursday, they went to Vinton County, where they would fall closely 55-39. Finally, they ended the week with a trip to Southern where they would come out victorious in a tight game 45-42.

This week, the Lady Marauders will go to Stewart to play the Federal Hocking Lancers on Monday. Then, they will travel to Wellston to take on the Golden Rockets on Thursday. — Lucy Schaefer
