CROOKSVILLE, OH (WOUB) – Crooksville Ceramics hosted Berne Union Rockets in a rainy contest on Friday night. This game had a delayed start of one and half hours. A rainy atmosphere made this a run heavy game.

The Rockets got the ball first and immediately faced trouble trying to run the ball against the Ceramics defense. Crooksville held Berne Union to a three and out on the first drive and had great field position. A big third down conversion set the Ceramics up for first and goal at the 5-yard line. Brody Cottrell ran a Quarterback sweep for 5 yards and the score to give them the 7-0 lead against Berne Union

The ball was very wet so there was a lot of smash mouth football being played in Crooksville. The Ceramics and Rockets had multiple possessions where they punted. Both teams couldn’t get anything going on the ground until about 1:41 left in the first half. Berne Union gets on the board with a Quarterback Draw by Jarrett Thompson that went for 44 yards and the Touchdown.

The second half started out slow as both teams punted their first two possessions. But when Berne Union punted the second time, the punter had trouble with the snap and Crooksville picked up the fumble and returned it for a touchdown. The missed extra point wide right gave them the 13-7 lead over the Rockets.

This gave all the momentum back to Crooksville as two plays later they forced another fumble. The Ceramics capitalized on this turnover with a 1-yard Quarterback sneak by Brody Cottrell. This was Cottrell’s second rushing touchdown of the night as they went for the two-point conversion but failed. Ceramics had a two-score lead going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, Crooksville fumbled in the red zone, but it didn’t matter. The Ceramics defense came into play in the second half holding the Rockets to 0 points.

The Crooksville Ceramics took this game 19-7 against the Berne Union Rockets in a very wet football game.

Crooksville is 3-0 and will look to continue their win streak at Meadowbrook next Friday.

Berne Union dropped their third game of the season and will look to get their first win against Bishop Rosecrans.
