The Wellston Golden Rockets take off against the Alexander Spartans in TVC-Ohio duel

Wellston had a steady drive to open up the game, but Alexander shut them down on the 4th and 1 attempt.
Two early penalties from Alexander prevented them from being able to move the ball at all.
Wellston capitalized on some great field position with the 34 yard score from RB Josh Clarkson to put the Golden Rockets ahead. Extra point was no good, 6-0 Wellston.
A blocked punt by the Golden Rockets put them in a perfect spot yet again, but Alexander took matters into its own hands with an end zone interception.
The Golden Rockets opened the second quarter with a vengeance and cashed in on a fumble recovery touchdown. The two point conversion was no good, 12-0 Wellston.
QB Johnny Scott had a huge run to set the Rockets up with a goal-to-go situation. This led to a 7 yard touchdown from WR Kyle Faught on 4th down. 18-0 Wellston, as they failed to convert on the two point try again.
After a few stalled out drives, Johnny Scott took the QB draw 20 yards to put Wellston ahead 24-0. Extra point was blocked once again.
With 26 seconds to go in the 2nd, the Golden Rockets went deep to Josh Clarkson for the 77 yard score. Extra point was good this time, and Wellston led 31-0 at halftime.
Finally, Alexander found some footing as they scored on a 66 yard connection to Trent Schaad. The Spartans went for the two-point conversion, but failed and this left the score at 31-6.
Wellston put the nail in the coffin, and finished the night with a goalline score to put the Rockets ahead 38-6.
A score from Alexander’s Rylan Hucks brought it to the 38-14 final. Alexander looks to bounce back at Vinton County, as Wellston hopes to keep the momentum alive at River Valley next week.
