ATHENS, OH – WOUB Public Media has launched a new website for its video series Foothill Features. The site – woub.org/foothillfeatures – categorizes each story by topic and geographic location on an interactive map.

“The new website is an amazing way to showcase this work,” said WOUB Community Engagement and Membership Manager Cheri Russo. “It will help those interested, including educators in our region, find in-depth videos telling the unique stories of their communities, along with stories that are of general interest by category. The website tells the story of this region in another unique way, which is what Foothill Features is all about.”

Foothill Features is an eclectic mix of feature narratives that showcase the sights, sounds and stories of our region. Individual features are posted on the website, WOUB’s YouTube Channel, and the WOUB PBS App. They will also be put together into a one-hour TV program that will be produced twice a year in the fall and spring. Each TV episode features five to seven stories from various locations across the region.

All five stories from the first episode of Foothill Features, which aired in May 2024, are now on the new webpage.

“The primary goal of Foothill Features is to highlight the stories of the region and encourage people to take greater ownership and curiosity of their community,” said WOUB Producer/Director Chris Flanery. “A key component of Foothill Features is that it will not be formulaic. The format allows for an exploration of different storytelling styles that best suit the individual story being told. Overall, Foothill Features seeks to be an approachable, unpretentious examination of the uniqueness of this region.”
