Here are the unofficial 2025 May primary election results for Athens County

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WOUB) – According to unofficial results, 9.76% of registered voters in Athens County cast ballots in the 2025 May primary election.

Voters in Athens rejected raising the city income tax from 1.95% to 2.25% with a vote of 835 – 625.

In the Athens City Council Democratic Primary for Council At-Large, Beth Clodfelter, Jessica Thomas, and Paul Isherwood have been nominated and will appear on the ballot in the November general election.

In the Athens City Council Democratic Primary for Ward 1, Megan Leah Almeida defeated Anthony D. Jacobs for the nomination with a vote of 112 – 78. Almeida will appear on the ballot in the November general election.

In the city of Nelsonville, voters rejected an amendment to the city’s charter that would ultimately repeal an initiative, known as Issue 23, the city’s voters passed overwhelmingly in November that calls for similar changes to city government with a vote of 235 – 201.

Voters in Bern Township approved a 1 mill for five years cemetery maintenance renewal levy with a vote of 21 -14. They also approved an additional 1 mill for five years fire protection levy with a vote of 23 – 12.

Voters in Troy Township rejected a 2 mills for five years road maintenance replacement levy with a vote of 57 -53.
