McARTHUR, Ohio (WOUB) – The Meigs Marauders would head west to face the Vinton County Vikings in a competitive conference rematch. The last time these teams met in Pomeroy, the Marauders would pick up their first TVC-Ohio loss, falling 58-55. This time, it would be a similar scene, as Vinton County would defeat Meigs 58-54.

Kicking things off in the first, the Marauders would take a slow start. Nash Yates would bring the heat for the Vikings, putting up 14 points alone in the first. Vinton County would end the quarter leading by eleven.

Into the second, the Marauders would begin to make up for some lost ground. Carson Davis and Owen Tracy would lead the comeback, adding a collective 15 points to the stat sheet to help bring Meigs out of the deficit.

With just seconds left in the half, Meigs’ Colben Beucler would pick up a layup on the fastbreak and a free throw off a technical foul to put the Marauders within one. They would head into the locker room trailing 33-32.

Back from the break, Meigs stepped onto the court with some new energy, eventually taking the lead for the first time in the game, going up 37-35. Griffin Hudson would shine during the third, giving the Marauders four of their seven points in the quarter, and Meigs would head into the home stretch up by one, 41-40.

The fourth would show much of the same back and fourth. Big threes from Jase Moore and Briggs Prater would help keep Vinton County in the race. However, it would be free throws by Prater that would ultimately put the Vikings over the top, sending the Marauders back to Pomeroy with their second conference loss of the season, 58-54.

The Vikings will take on the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes Saturday at home, while the Marauders will travel to Jackson on Tuesday.
