Stuart’s Bluegrass Matinee Scheduled For Feb. 8
< < Back to 100944Stuart’s Opera House will host an award-winning bluegrass matinee with Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out and The Hart Brothers this Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m.
As the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) most-awarded Male Vocalist of the Year (five-times), Russell Moore is celebrating nearly 25 years with his band IIIrd Tyme Out as one of the genre’s most awarded and influential groups in modern day bluegrass.
All in all, the band has garnered more than 50 industry accolades since their inception in 1991, including being named the IBMA’s Vocal Group of the Year for seven consecutive years.
Their live appearances have included many performances on the Grand Ole Opry and numerous GAC and RFD TV shows.
The ensemble celebrated tremendous success with the release of their latest album, Timeless Hits From The Past Bluegrassed. Sold exclusively through the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, the album ranked #5 on Billboard’s Top Selling Bluegrass Albums of 2013.
Opening Sunday’s show will be Athens County’s own The Hart Brothers. Formed in 1979 by Myron (Pete) Hart, Heamon (Tib) Hart and Arman (Sam) Hart, the three siblings remained the nucleus of the band until Sam passed away unexpectedly in 1983.
Throughout that time the band played mainly in the Southeastern Ohio and North Central West Virginia areas. In the years before and since Sam passed away, several musicians have played in the band and contributed to the group’s unique style of what they call “modern traditional bluegrass.”
The Hart Brothers have typically performed 30-35 weekends a year in the upper Midwest (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky) with longer trips as time and opportunity allowed.
