< < Back to hocking-college-hires-new-presidentNELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) – Hocking College in Nelsonville has chosen its interim president for the long-term position.
The Athens Messenger reports the Hocking College Board of Trustees on Thursday chose Betty Young as its new president. Young will be under a two-year contract starting today (May 1).
Young says she’s there because she cares about the college community and wants it to reclaim the “national reputation of excellence” that’s been the “hallmark of Hocking College.”
Along with Young, finalists for the job included Ryan McCall and Col. Chad Breeden.
McCall is the vice president of academic affairs for Southern State Community College in Hillsboro. Breeden is a commanding officer at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
Former president Ron Erickson resigned in October amid an enrollment decline and budget shortfall.
