Principal Indicted On Child Abuse Charges
< < Back to principal-indicted-child-abuse-chargesA former Mason County principal accused of assaulting a student has been indicted on a child abuse charge.
Media outlets report that a Mason County grand jury charged Cameron C. Moffett with one count of child abuse causing risk of injury.
Police say the 46-year-old Point Pleasant resident forced Zachary Plants, 11, to the floor of a school bus aisle, shoved the boy out the door, and then pinned him to the pavement.
Moffett was principal at Point Pleasant Intermediate School at the time of the March 21, 2012, incident. He was later removed from that position.
Moffett's lawyer, Jim Lees, has said the force that Moffett used was justified.
The grand jury handed up the indictment Tuesday.
